Advancement of scientific knowledge pertaining to fibers, fiber based products, and fibrous materials. The Society was founded in 1941 and is incorporated as a nonprofit professional and scientific association. The general management and supervision of the Society is delegated to the Governing Council, which is elected by and from the membership. The society is composed of members who are chemists, physicists,
and engineers with interests in the field of fiber science engineering
and technology. There are no corporate or institutional members. Membership
is by nomination only and requires evidence of significant contributions
and commitment to the fields of fiber science, engineering, and technology. GO TO MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION REQUEST The Society sponsors two technical meetings each year, either in the form of a general technical conference or in the form of a symposium on a specialized topic. Meetings are generally held in the United States or abroad, whenever a strong local organization undertakes the responsibility to do so. Attendance at Society meetings is open to all participants interested in the field. Attendance of students and academic faculties is particularly encouraged. The registration fee for all regularly enrolled undergraduate and graduate students is normally waived. GO
